Igor Tulchinsky, Founder of WorldQuant University, Speaks at Milken Institute London Summit

In early December, WorldQuant University founder Igor Tulchinsky spoke at the Milken Institute London Summit, which convened leaders to discuss innovation challenges and opportunities in modern Europe. Igor spoke on a panel titled “How Philanthropic Capital Can Spark 21st Century Innovations” with fellow leaders Melissa Stevens of the Milken Institute, Joe Cerrell of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Madeleine Clarke of the European Venture Philanthropy Association, and Johan Eliasch of Head.

The panel focused on the world-changing dividends that philanthropic capital can reap. As philanthropy adjusts to the complexities of the 21st century, there is an increased need for the philanthropic sector to work alongside government and business to create innovative tools and approaches that maximize return for the good of the world. During the panel, Igor and others discussed the initiatives they’ve taken and the insights they’ve gleaned in their philanthropic work.

In discussing his approach to education, Igor noted: “There is no consensus on what type of education is best globally, either instilling basic academic skills and discipline or fostering creative and independent thinking. My view is that we need to provide a solution that appealed to both schools of thought. In the end, it is relevant education that matters.”

You can listen to the full panel here.

At WorldQuant University, we take Igor’s approach to relevant education to heart. We develop our programs to instill both creativity and practical expertise in our students and prepare them for modern careers in research, strategy, trading and technology.
